Ingredients
  

  • 1 cup blueberries fresh or frozen
  • 4-5 leaves fresh basil roughly chopped
  • 1 cup ice cubes
  • 2 tablespoons honey or simple syrup adjust sweetness as desired
  • 1/2 cup water cold

  • Ice crusher or resealable bag and mallet

Method
 

  1. Place the blueberries, chopped basil, honey, and water into the blender.
  2. Blend on high until the mixture is smooth, with the blueberries broken down and basil fully incorporated, about 30 seconds.
  3. Add the ice cubes to the blender and pulse a few times to start crushing the ice.
  4. Continue blending until the mixture is thick, slushy, and evenly icy, about 20-30 seconds. Stop and check the texture.
  5. Taste the slushie and adjust sweetness if needed by adding a little more honey, then blend briefly again to combine.
  6. Scoop the blueberry basil slushie into glasses, garnish with a few basil leaves if desired, and serve immediately for the best icy freshness.

Notes

For a vegan version, substitute honey with agave syrup or maple syrup.
